Today was a sunny happy day. I finished my 'design intern' contract last Thursday at my job and today I started as a freelance designer there; which feels like a huge achievement especially as im still only an undergraduate! We all went out for lunch today to celebrate myself and Moniques new freelance positions and also for Jess' First Class Hons in Fashion that she (soon to be) will of graduated with! We went to Jamie's Italian in Birmingham and the food was AMAZING: I know Jamie's isn't posh but my version of eating out is Nandos and Pizza Express (the former only as a special occasion/eating out with richer friends). I got a piece of chicken with a really posh green leafy/stalky salad (there was definetely no iceberg lettuce in sight) and with trepidation I tried crab for the first time which was so nice! The desserts were amazing (Mine a strawberry and honeycomb pavlova) and the company was even better, I felt really lucky today to be able to work around such talented and lovely ladies; I definetely would recommend  a placement year for anyone currently thinking/looking at doing so as the people you'll meet and the experiences you'll have with broaden your horizons and help you grow as a person.
The Vans I wore today were the only thing wrong with an otherwise perfect day; there new, they killed my feet and there filthy from me wearing them brand new to a club, so if the pain wasn't enough looking down and seeing the dirt encrusted toes certainly was...
I also LOVE this cardigan- I've been after a duster coat from Topshop but haven't had £75.00 to spare so when I found this long thin 'cardigan' in Primark the other week I knew I had to have it ^.^

Fashion Internships

Floral Headband: Zara
Necklace: Topshop
Top: Topshop
Trousers: POP (Leeds)
Belt: Vintage
Garfield Bag: Lazy Oaf
Shoes: Black Doc Martens

I feel like I have alot to say and at the same time no words are coming to me; I can feel all those things I've been putting off slowly start to creep up on me again and it just makes me feel anxious and scared; I know I need more internships but its SO DIFFICULT. I don't even know how to put into words how scary trying to be part of the fashion industry is;
Its the thought of trying and failing; its being constantly told by everyone around you how hard it is, how you'll never have any money, how so and so went to central saint martins and they still havent got a job, how if you dont get internships now you dont stand a chance when you graduate. Its being told being talented isnt enough, having money isnt enough, going to an amazing university isnt enough, that its LUCK, its pure luck whether you get that job or the girl sitting next to you does. Its luck that you meet someone that knows the contact details for someone at some company who will actually read your email and maybe give you a chance. It just feels hard and believe me I'm someone who trusts faithfully in all these 'feelgood' quotes being thrown my way, you know the ones that say you'll end up exactly where your mean't to be, nothing that's worth it comes easy; and I know that and I believe that if I try as hard as I can I will end up where I want to be. When I say this to people they either think that's admirable and an amazing attitude to have or they look at you like ...

Makeup: Revlon/Mac

This weekend was originally dedicated to completing my 'Professional Enhancement' coursework, Im working at Claires Accessories as a Design intern for my Placement year (I study Fashion at Uni!) and the only things we've needed to do in the way of coursework is a blog, a poster and a CV. Ive completed the blog, I've thought about the poster and I'm avoiding the CV.
Instead this weekend I decided to go shopping and buy these awesome 'Joggers' from H&M; I hate to even admit these are Joggers as immediately the word dredges up memories of Addidas Trackies with Three stripes down the side and Poppers up the leg that me and my Sisters wore during the 90's with chunky white trainers... However for 2014 I am in love with the 'Sports Luxe' look  and think these look super cute with heels (in reality aka outside of my room I will be wearing these with Vans/Dr Martens/Birkenstocks for everyday walking, as I cant walk in heels for too long unfortunately!)
I am off to contemplate starting up Illustrator and designing my poster/sitting and working my way through more Gilmore Girls ^.^
